The Tri-State Tour’s 2010 Invitational is Underway

2009 “A”/”A+” Class Invitational Players Over this weekend, Saturday, July 10-Sunday, July 11, The Tri-State Tour’s Invitational .  Every year, the tour holds this annual event to showcase the tour’s highest-finishing and hardest-working players.  Players from each of the division levels will be competing within their respective classes to vie for the title of “ Tri-State Invitational Grand Champion “.

Stewart Warnock Closes Out at Gritty Win at Sandcastle Billiards on the Tri-State

Randy Schwager (2nd), Stewart Warnock (1st), George Osipovitch (3rd) The Tri-State Tour headed to Sandcastle Billiards in Edison, NJ on April 17 for their A-D 9-ball tour stop which featured 39 of the areas toughest amateurs.  Player in attendance included Dan Cintron , Wali Muhammed , Stewart Warnock , John Alicea , PA’s Randy Schwager , and Gary Murgia . Making it through the field to the final four in the winner’s side, Randy Schwager would edge out Stewart Warnock “The Scottish Lion” in a battle that ended hill-hill, while George Osipovitch outlasted William Zazor , closing out their set 7-4.  Meeting in the match for the hot seat, Randy Schwager would secure a spot in the finals, defeating George Osipovitch in a close 9-6 match

Wutang Masters the Tri-State 9-Ball Field

Finalists: Wilfredo Albay 3rd, Winner Duane Toney, 1st, and Raul Reyes, Jr 2nd place “Wu Tang” Duane Toney loves the game of pool. Student of the game, and fan of the sport… “Wu Tang” also proved his heart on the table as well last weekend. “Wu Tang” snapped off the 28 player Tri State 9 Ball Event at Master Billiards. The handicapped 9-Ball  C/D Tri-state event was held on Saturday 2/6/10 at the always tough to win at Queens pool room.

John Stiles (3rd), Borana Andoni (1st), Justin Muller (2nd) Borana Andoni finished off the month of January with a bang, as she went undefeated at the Tri-State Tour’s Gotham City Billiards B/C/D event on Saturday, January 30th, 2010.

Ed Manlulu Claims an Undefeated win on the Tri-State at Sandcastle

Chris Luethi (2nd), Scott Abramowitz (3rd), Ed Manlulu (1st) Last Saturday, January 16th, the Tri-State Tour headed to Edison, New Jersey’s Sandcastle Billiards where Ed Manlulu went undefeated in tour’s B/C/D event. His route to the finals included wins over John Egeln (7-3), Paul Everton (7-2), James DiLillo (7-6), George Osipovitch (7-5), and to claim the hot seat, Chris Luethi , 7 – 1

Fred Beierle Claims the First Tri-State Event of the New Year at Castle Billiards

Castle Billiards (WPBA Pro Megan Smith) The first Tri-State Tour event of the year (and the decade!) was held at Castle Billiards on January 2nd, 2010.  Being hosted at one of the area’s most popular and player-friendly rooms helped draw 45 of the top amateur players in the area to this 10-ball event. Meeting in the final four on the winner’s side were Cory Sohlman , Fred Beierle , Joe Varvaro , and John Stiles .  To move on to the final two, Beierle would come through to defeat Sohlman in a hill-hill tiebreaker, while Stiles cleanly defeated Varvano 7-3.  However, Joe Stiles would not prevail over Beierle in the match for the hot seat, where Fred Beierle dominated 7-4. While Stiles waited for the one-loss side, there were plenty of battles to be fought on the comeback bracket.  In the one-loss final 8, Castle room owner John Trobiano prevailed over tour regular Raphael DaBreo.  However, Trobiano would be eliminated by Ra Hanna (6-2), who trounced Raj Vannala 7-1 in the final 8.  Similarly, Jim DeGiasafatto defeated Ken Debroskie 6-2 to move on to the final four.
