The WPBA San Diego Classic Kicks Off Tomorrow with Live Streaming Coverage from The Action Report

2009 San Diego Classic finalists Gerda Hofstatter (3rd), Monica Webb (1st), & Ga-Young Kim (2nd) Tomorrow, March 11, the WPBA Women’s Professional Billiards Association will be kicking off the 2010 season with the San Diego Classic .  This event will mark the 14th WPBA Classic Tour event held at the Viejas Casino in Alpine, CA, which will run from March 11-14.  And, for the first time ever, The Action Report will be providing live streaming for the duration of the event (excluding the semifinal and final matches). Among the 64 players slated to compete for this title are the nine tour newcomers who recently earned their tour qualification at the WPBA Regional Tour Championship.  Included among them are players such as New York-based Emily Duddy , former junior champions Liz Lovely and Mary Rakin , and the new Regional Tour Champion Shu-Han Chang of Taiwan. However, these rookies will have their work cut out for them as they will face tour vets like defending San Diego Classic Champion Monica Webb , WPBA #1-ranked Ga-Young Kim , and 2009 Women’s Player of the Year, Jasmin Ouschan , to name a few

Adam Kielar Wins His First Mezz Tour Event at Mainline Billiards

Eddie Abraham (2nd) & Adam Kielar (1st) The Mezz Pro-Am Tour made its way to Mainline Billiards in Frazer, PA on Sunday, March 7th.  A strong field of 41 players came out to compete for a the top prize of $1,100, including players like Adam Kielar , Eddie Abraham , Shaun Wilkie , Joe Hong , Gregg McAndrews , Caroline Pao , and Sharon O’Hanlon . Leading the top half of the bracket  was young Adam Kielar , with wins over Lou Patrikios (7-1), Sharon O’Hanlon (7-2), Ray Lee (7-4), Josh Brothers (7-4), and Gregg McAndrews (7-3).

Kevin Guimond Battles Back in the Finals to Win Inaugural Empire State Amateur Championship on the Ozone Billiards Predator 9-ball Tour

“Wu Tang” Duane Toney (2st), Bob Schlott (3rd), Kevin Guimond (1st), Tony Robles (Tour Founder) On March 6-7, 2010, Tony Robles and the Ozone Billiards Predator Tour staff & players made pool history in New York. This season, the Ozone Billiards Predator 9-Ball Tour introduced a new dual-tournament structure, allowing amateurs to compete amongst themselves instead of alongside the pros. This move helped create the first-ever amateur 9-ball title in NY state, the Empire State Amateur Championships

Geoffrey Bauer Makes an Undefeated Run for a Tri-State Win at Eastside Billiards

Sam Li (2nd), Geoffrey Bauer (1st), Alan Chan (3rd) On Saturday, March 6th, Eastside Billiards was host to the Tri-State Tour’s B/C/D class 9-ball event with $500 added to the prize pool.  This Upper East Side Manhattan hotspot would bring in a number of the areas top amateurs, but only one would walk away with the top prize of $440. In the final four of the winner’s bracket in this event, Alan Chan edged ahead of Sam Li to win 6-5, while Geoffrey Bauer sent Tony Eglesias to the one-loss side by another close 7-5 finish.  Bauer also relented in the match for the hot seat where he won the case game in a hill-hill battle against Alan Chan.

Tony Robles Introduces the First Amateur State 9-Ball Title This Weekend at the Ozone Billiards Predator Tour’s Empire State 9-Ball Championship!

Ozone Billiards Predator Tour – Empire State Amateur Championships Ozone Billiards Predator Tour 9-Ball Tour’s founder Tony Robles will be holding the first ever Empire State Amateur 9-Ball Championship this weekend!  This will mark the first time in NYC history that an amateur player will have the opportunity to win a State Championship! The event will take place at Raxx Pool Room , which is located in West Hempstead, NY.  The $2,500-added 9-ball event will be open to 128 A-D level players. Steve Kurtz, creator of the Diamond Billiards – Bob Jewett 14.1 Challenge Along with all its great classic pro and amateur events, this year the Super Billiards Expo has brought on a brand-new straight pool event that was built from the ground-up. This event, called the Diamond Billiards Product – Bob Jewett 14.1 Challenge , was originally conceived by long-time straight pool player and fan, Steve Kurtz .  With the assistance of Allen Hopkins , industry sponsors, and most importantly, player support, the event is now coming to fruition at the 2010 Expo.

The “Rogue Rhino” Justin Muller Rolls the Competition at a Snowy Tri-State Event at Edison Billiards

Roy Allan (2nd), Muller (1st), Carl Sallo (3rd) The Tri-State Tour along with 24 of its toughest B/C/D players headed to Edison Billiards in Edison, NJ, on Saturday, February 27, despite the inclement weather. The final four players dominating the winner’s bracket were Carl Sallo , Justin Muller , Robert Perkins , and Roy Allan . Both matches were dominantly won, with Allan defeating Muller (7-3), while Sallo sent Perkins packing by a score of (7-2).
